About Standing in the Gap Leadership Academy

Standing in the Gap Leadership Academy was founded by Rev. Dr. Arlene D. Hudson as a leadership, educational, and spiritual formation organization dedicated to training and developing leaders who are called to serve in the church, community, education, and nonprofit sectors. After more than 30 years in education, ministry, and leadership, Dr. Hudson recognized the need for a space where leaders—particularly African American women—could be trained, supported, and equipped to lead with confidence, faith, and purpose.

The Academy focuses on leadership development, womanist theology, mentoring, and community empowerment. Through workshops, courses, conferences, media platforms, and leadership cohorts, Standing in the Gap Leadership Academy equips individuals to lead, teach, build organizations, and make a lasting impact in their communities.

Our mission is to help individuals discover their purpose, develop their leadership voice, and stand in the gap for others through faith, education, and service.
